Answering the Call
Why I Became an End-of-Life Practitioner
With an undergraduate degree in Religious Studies, I answered the call to serve those on their journey transitioning from this world. Having accompanied my husband and my parents in their final days, it was clear to me that it is possible to die a good death. I earned a Masters of Science in Thanatology, followed by a Certificate as an End-of-Life Doula from University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine. I will soon finish Pediatric end-of-life doula training. I fulfilled Missouri Clinical Chaplaincy requirements in Residency at Mercy Hospital South in 2024. This cumulative, robust training enables me to offer a comprehensive array of services to my patients and their families.

Outside my private practice, I am a hospital chaplain and provide inpatient and home hospice spiritual support. I facilitate grief support groups and host Death Café gatherings. By experiencing death as a lifecycle event, rather than a medical event, we reduce our fear of it and create the good death.
